When Hosenfeld is speaking to Spzilman, the translation given here is much to harsh for what he is actually saying. In every conversation Hosenfeld uses the formal "you" in German, indicating a respect all previous German soldiers lacked (in that they used the informal you). "Was machen Sie hier?" is translated as "what the hell are doing?" Better would be the more literal translation of "What are you doing here?".
